I wanted to enter this photo because it's Penelope's "Big Fat Smile".  This smile just lights me up and all those who know her.  We see it a lot these days and I just love when I can catch it, freeze it and keep it forever.

Wow.  It's been quite some time since I have entered any photo contest.  But it's a new year and I am newly inspired.  This assignment was very difficult for me.  All those pictures of my beloved, each one "the best face" (to me).  After an exhausted search I finally found the one.  It's funny, the ones that actually stand out.  Not the perfectly planned.  Not the perfect outfit or perfect smile or perfect location.  It was the perfectly unplanned with the imperfect smile.  This picture was snapped during the yearly, emotionally draining, One thousand and one shots Christmas card project 2010.  Whew, what an endeavor.   I was actually trying to get a shot of my dear daughter playing with a stuffed reindeer when out of no where popped my dear son.  There he is.  That disheveled hair and the little mischievous grin with the missing teeth (now even more gaps have blanketed his smile).  So, I chose my little dude for the best face photo.  When I look at it I giggle at the memory and his perfectly imperfect face.

Watching cartoons with Grimace!  Lukas loved Grimace "so much" for about a week after he got him in a happy meal.  He carried him around everywhere and I kept hearing that old commercial jingle "My Buddy and Me" in my head every time I looked at the two :)
