i heart faces~purple

Watching cartoons with Grimace!  Lukas loved Grimace "so much" for about a week after he got him in a happy meal.  He carried him around everywhere and I kept hearing that old commercial jingle "My Buddy and Me" in my head every time I looked at the two :)

i heart faces ~ pets

Introducing our cat Bean.  I am drawn to this image because it is soft and sweet and I dig the back light.  My daughter is constantly pursuing our cat and is constantly unsuccessful at catching her.  My son was dear enough one day to catch Bean for her and hold her gently so my daughter could actually pet her..... or pull her whiskers.  Not quite sure about which one :)

i heart faces ~ babies

Oh my, this one was tough.  Because I so love babies and I so love my babies . I am afraid I do not have an impartial eye for this challenge.  They all were precious and perfect to me.  Perhaps I was suffering from nastalgiaitis. Anyway, I stared at them for a long while before narrowing it down to this one.  My sweet baby girl.  So peaceful in baby dreamland snuggled on Daddy's chest.

i heart faces ~ yellow

One day I found this really cool yellow wrapping paper at Target and thought it would make a great backdrop for a photo.  After countless attempts of trying to get a shot with my own precious pumpkin, (who was only interested in tearing down the wrapping paper)  I went to plan "B".   I called my neighbor and did a little song and dance so she would bring her own precious pumpkin over to be my model.  Thanks neighbor!

i heart faces ~ faces & flowers

Ok, I know... a little outside the box. But for some reason I am in low supply of flower photos. Note to self *find flower field or plant garden.

One day, I  got my table cloth out to iron it.  I then put it on the floor for the job at hand because it was so large.  Well, here she comes.  My little P.  She would not leave the thing alone.  You would have thought it had candy hiding in it. She was laughing, rolling on it, trying to run away with it.  Very frustrating for me as you might imagine.  Then I saw it.  Her shirt matched the little gold flower on my table cloth and she was just grinning from ear to ear.  So, I ran, grabbed my camera (never too far away) and took the shot.

i heart faces ~ smiles

I love the toothless smile because I love his lips!

It is such a rare moment when I can capture a "real" smile.  My son is famous for his ugly, fake smiles that look like he is in pain or constipated :)

I Heart Faces ~ Collages

This one was a challenge for me. One being I have never actually created a collage and two there was not a lot of options or info about making a collage in Aperture 3.  I have a Mac.  I eventually figured something out and ended up going with a theme about a boy. An artist, a dreamer, a playful spirit, a video fanatic and much more. He is my boy and I tried to capture some of the things that makes him "him".  I  dig "him" :)

I Heart Faces ~ I Heart Desserts

Ok..so I am not much of a baker and more of a maker. My entry this week is called Sweet Spring Surprise. It might not be the prettiest or the yummiest but my 6 year old helped make it and we had a lot of fun with some left over Easter candy.

I Heart Faces ~ Dramatic Black and White

All I have are my dramatic kids :). Something about this photo brings on a mood I can't describe. Maybe, it's because she's my baby. The look on her face? Maybe, it's the contrast between dark and light. The textures?

i heart faces ~ angles

I have a lot of pics with different angles and I am not sure this one is my best but I love the story behind this photo. In this shot my son was at his preschool's Farm Day 2008 (hence the scarecrow getup).  I better start by telling you what happened the Farm Day held the year before.  Lukas was entranced by the rooster.  He wouldn't leave that area and watched a long time as other children came around and held the big fluffy bird. After what seemed like an eternity he finally mustered up enough moncho to hold the bird himself.  The rooster lady carefully placed the bird in my son's arms and immediately the bird started to flap its wings, make crazy noises and flail his skinny little clawy feet.  My son fell back and the rooster ran away.  It was kinda funny until Lukas got up with a big scratch on his face and a look of terror.  He wouldn't stop crying.  Anyway, the next year my son looked the enormous bird in the eye and held his gaze for minutes. He conquered his fear and eventually held the rooster again.  I am glad I was there to catch that moment.

I heart faces ~ Jump For Joy

This week the theme at i heart faces is jump for joy.  I have to admit this is my first attempt at trying to capture a "jump".  I tried to get my son to jump in the family room, off the stairs and outside.  But he seemed bored with  no facial expressions.  When I finally decided to try for the bed shot I was sceptical because I knew it would be a popular subject and probably overdone...but he was so excited.  I love his charged, happy little face here.
